(Sioux Falls, SD) — Life Defense Fund is dropping its lawsuit against Dakotans for Health over abortion rights Amendment G. This comes after the constitutional amendment to expand abortion access in South Dakota was shut down by voters on Election Day earlier this month. The pro-life group in Life Defense Fund was contending that Dakotans for Health violated state laws while circulating petitions, which would mean the amendment shouldn’t have been certified. Leaders of the Life Defense Fund say there’s no reason to move forward with any legal action because the group’s main priority in filing the suit was to keep Amendment G from passing.
