Looking at SD Emergency Preparedness

(Pierre, SD) — New research is showing how South Dakota stacks up to the rest of the country when it comes to emergency preparedness. It comes from data compiled by the company Rainbow Restoration that utilized the Bureau of Labor Statistics to find first responder density compared to residents across the country. South Dakota has about 47 first responders for every 10-thousand people, according to the numbers. Research also shows South Dakota residents make the sixth fewest amount of 911 calls for every first responder. However, the state is really lacking in firefighters having the third-least amount with only less than seven for every 10-thousand residents.
