Lucky Lady Casino Closes Less Than 24 Hours After Withdrawing Liquor License Renewal

(Sioux Falls, SD) — Less than 24 hours after Lucky Lady Casino’s management withdrew requests to renew the establishment’s two alcohol licenses, the casino said it’s shutting down. M.G. Oil President Troy Erickson confirmed the casino was closed and vacated as of 7 a.m. on Wednesday. The establishment’s two alcohol licenses would have expired June 30th, following Erickson’s request to withdraw the requests for renewal — which were unanimously approved by the Sioux Falls City Council at their meeting on Tuesday. Neighbors packed the council chambers on May 2nd, when the casino’s alcohol licenses had initially been up for renewal, complaining of alcohol violations and violence they said the business was contributing to in the area.
