(Sioux Falls, SD) — The cause of the 911 outages across multiple states Wednesday night was due to a light pole installation. Lousiana-based Lumen technologies told KELOLAND News in a statement that “some customers in Nevada, South Dakota and Nebraska experienced an outage due to a third-party company installing a light pole – unrelated to our services.” During a news conference in Sioux Falls Thursday morning, Metro Communications Director Mike Gramlick said they never experienced an outage of this magnitude but police, fire and EMS response was not impacted. It’s not clear when or where the light pole installation took place but Lumen apologized for the inconvenience.
