(Sioux Falls, SD) — South Dakotans across the state are remembering and honoring fallen military members with several Memorial Day events taking place. Hundreds gathered at the South Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Sioux Falls. It’s the first federally funded and state-owned and operated cemetery in the state. Governor Noem spoke at the Sioux Falls service yesterday, saying, “The freedoms that we enjoy today are paid for by the blood of the men and women who made brave sacrifices on our behalf.” According to the South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs, nearly three-thousand South Dakotans have lost their lives during U.S. wars since World War One.
