(Minnehaha County, SD) — It was a long couple of days in Minnehaha County as ballots were still being counted on Wednesday. At around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday workers began tabulating results on the final machine, which after being combined with three other machines, gets sent to the Secretary of State. A little after 5 p.m. the South Dakota Secretary of State’s office finally updated the county’s tabulation to 100-percent. Minnehaha County Auditor Leah Anderson said the delay was credited to significant voter turnout, the stacks of piles, and the time it takes to get through absentee ballots.
