(Vermillion, SD) — One Vermillion winery is helping out the community by serving more than 400 meals on Christmas Day. Valiant Winery and Distillery welcomed hundreds of people in need yesterday to pick up to-go plates or enjoy company at tables inside. Valiant Vineyards CEO Eldon Nygaard says giving and sharing is the real meaning of Christmas, and he was happy to make anyone’s holiday a little brighter. Around 30 people volunteered their time, serving ham, corn, potatoes and other eats. Volunteer Maxine Johnson says helping anyone going through Christmas alone, not able to cook, or those who couldn’t afford proper Christmas meals, gave her and the other volunteers a sense of purpose.
