(Sioux Falls, SD) — Mosquitoes are taking over southeastern South Dakota. Cities around the Sioux Falls area are fighting against a surge from the pests after all of the rain, flooding, and warm weather over the last month. Sioux Falls officials are saying it’s the worst it has been in ten years. The city has been placing full traps and also counting and testing mosquitoes individually to make sure those carrying disease are tracked. Environmental Health Manager Dominic Miller says just one of those traps had 46-hundred mosquitoes in it last week. Cities like Brandon, Harrisburg and Tea are also increasing their spraying efforts to fight the surge.
