Murder Suspect Held On $1 Million Bond

(Sioux Falls, SD) — A Sioux Falls man whose murder confession was ignored is now being held on a million-dollar cash bond. Dylan Farmer is being charged with murder in the shooting death of Casey Shawn Edward Shaffer. According to court documents, Farmer went to the Minnehaha County Jail Friday night and told officers he shot a man he claimed touched a young boy inappropriately. Keloland reports that the police chief said “false confessions” are not uncommon and Farmer wasn’t arrested at that time. After receiving a call from a woman several hours later, police found Shaffer dead with gunshot wounds. Farmer’s bond was set in court on Monday.
