(Sioux Falls, SD) — The number of people experiencing homelessness in Sioux Falls has increased by nearly 20-percent. The South Dakota Housing for the Homeless Consortium conducted a statewide homeless count in January. Last year they counted 490 people, this year’s count totaled to 610. Sioux Falls Homelessness Coordinator Michelle Treasure says she isn’t surprised by the increase because of the city’s growth. Treasure hopes the community will show support for agencies that help people get into homes.
