New STEM Grant For Augustana U

(Sioux Falls, SD) — The future is bright for STEM education and research in South Dakota. Augustana University is being awarded nearly 45-thousand dollars a year through 2028 to encourage youth education in STEM-related fields across the state. The grants are part of NASA’s National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program, and funding is provided by the South Dakota Space Grant Consortium. The SDSGC connects colleges and universities to collaborate in the science, technology, engineering and math fields while exploring innovative research and educational initiatives. Some of this grant will also support STEM education for middle school students, specifically the state’s FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Program. FLL is a joint effort between Augustana, EmBe, and other groups that hold robotics competitions at the university.
