(Pierre, SD) — Amtrak expansion in South Dakota is getting closer to becoming a reality. The Federal Railroad Administration has completed the fourth and final round of workshops for its Long-Distance Service Study. It breaks down the 15 routes Amtrak identified in February and gives a rough, early estimate on costs, benefits and priorities. The two routes that would travel through South Dakota are deemed feasible. Advocates say they are pushing as hard as possible to make it happen.
