(Pierre, SD) — Advocates continue to push for the return of passenger rail to South Dakota. Dan Bilka, a Madison native and SDSU graduate working with the Rail Passengers Association and All Aboard Northwest, is highly involved in organizing public comment and support for the Amtrak Daily Long-Distance Service Study. The latest proposed maps include two possible routes through South Dakota. Bilka says since those were released recently, people in local communities are speaking out and endorsing the possibilities for passenger rail. Rapid City Council passed a resolution earlier this month formally endorsing reintroducing passenger rail service.
