No Phones For Gettysburg School District Students

(Gettysburg, SD) — Gettysburg School District students will no longer be able to have phones on them during the school day. The device-free school days this year is an initiative to eliminate distractions and foster better mental and social-emotional health for students, according to the district. The move includes all students in kindergarten through 12th grade. All middle and high school students will lock smartphones, smartwatches and Bluetooth earbuds in YONDR pouches, which lock with a magnet, while elementary students will turn off devices and store them in their classroom or backpack for the day. The district says that it has protocols in place and staff is trained for a variety of crisis situations in the event of any emergencies.
