(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem says she was “shocked” at the recent backlash over a music video from country music singer Jason Aldean. In a Twitter video Wednesday, Noem claimed people are attempting to cancel Aldean, his new single “Try that in a Small Town” and his beliefs. The singer has been criticized in recent days for the song’s music video, which was filmed in front of a Tennessee courthouse where a Black man was lynched in the 1920s. Aldean defended the song this week, saying allegations that he released a “pro-lynching song” are meritless and dangerous.
