Noem’s Office Denies Access To Whistleblower Hotline

(Pierre, SD) — Governor Noem’s office is not allowing access to records of messages received by Noem’s whistleblower hotline for issues related to the state’s higher education institutions. KELOLAND News reports it reached out with a formal records request back in June for tips received and any responses issued by the Governor’s Office. The denial cited two South Dakota statutes, one exempting access to different records of public officials or employees, and another exempting “Records which, if disclosed, would constitute an unreasonable release of personal information.”
