Northern Lights May Be Visible in South Dakota This Week

(Pierre, SD) — South Dakotans may be lucky enough to see the northern lights this week. The aurora borealis should be visible here and possibly 16 other states on Thursday, June 13th. According to a forecast from the University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute, Thursday is supposed to be the best chance in most places to see the luminous natural phenomenon. The best chance of viewing the northern lights is between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. local time away from any city lights.
