(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota universities are reporting a positive impact from the new opportunity centers on campuses across the state. Presidents from each of South Dakota’s six public universities told to the Board of Regents in a meeting Tuesday that they are a major success after taking the place of the system’s diversity offices nearly two years ago. The decision was a way to solve the divisive issue of having the word “diversity” in campus office titles and facilities. SDSU’s center has seen 46-hundred students participate in at least one of its programs or services.
