Parker Man Gets Six Years For Killing 4-Month-Old Baby

(Parker, SD) — A judge sentenced a Parker man who pleaded guilty to killing a four-month-old baby to six-years in prison. Court documents say in September of 2022, 26-year-old Phillip Delaney shook his partner’s baby boy three to four times out of frustration. Delaney called 911 but it was too late, an autopsy states the baby died of “a traumatic brain injury due to a non-accidental injury inflicted by an adult.” Attorney General Marty Jackley says Delaney was charged with first-degree manslaughter, which has a maximum sentence of life in prison. However, Delaney has already spent time in jail so he’ll spend four-and-a-half-years in prison as a result of “mitigating circumstances” because he didn’t have a criminal history and had a continuing relationship with the victim’s family.
