(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota now has a map of potential future passenger rail routes. The Federal Railroad Administration released over a hundred slides with Amtrak Daily Long-Distance Service Study maps that include two routes through South Dakota. One possible route is Minneapolis-St. Paul, Sioux Falls, Omaha and Kansas City. The other proposed route is Denver, Cheyenne, Rapid City, Pierre, Sioux Falls, and Minneapolis. Public comments submitted by South Dakotans and awareness efforts by All Aboard Northwest brought attention to the previously overlooked South Dakota.
