Quarter Of South Dakota In Drought, Mostly In Southeast

(Pierre, SD) — July is known for hot and dry spells in South Dakota. One quarter of the state is in drought with most of it in the southeast, including Sioux Falls. If temperatures weren’t below normal as of late, the situation would be much worse. It’s likely that drought monitor updates won’t be improving in the coming weeks with the hottest weather of the summer still on the way.
