(Rapid City, SD) — Prosecutors in Rapid City say they had no choice but to dismiss murder charges in a killing from last year. The Pennington County State’s Attorney’s Office on Friday dropped the charges against Duane Sierra. The State’s Attorney made the decision after a judge said Sierra’s confession could not be used at trial. Without that, prosecutors say, they didn’t have enough evidence to make the case. Sierra was accused of shooting and killing Serena Spider in May of last year.
