(Rapid City, SD) — The actions of a Rapid City PD officer in a deadly shooting back in November are being justified. That’s according to the final report from the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation shared by Attorney General Marty Jackley yesterday. It happened at Hainesway Apartment Complex in Rapid City on November 1st. An officer shot once and killed 27-year-old Jesse Warbonnett, who later tested positive for meth. According to Jackley, the man was waving and pointing a gun at officers as they unsuccessfully attempted to negotiate with him. However, the pistol was found to be unloaded. South Dakota has had five reported shootings involving law enforcement this year.
