(Rapid City, SD) — A “red flag warning” is in effect for 12 western South Dakota counties through midnight on Wednesday. Dry, windy conditions with warm temperatures are causing a greater risk for fire hazards. The warning runs from Harding and Perkins counties in the northwest corner of the state through Meade and Pennington counties to Custer and Fall River counties in the southwest corner. Other affected counties are Haakon, Jackson, Mellette, Oglala Lakota, Todd and Ziebach.
