(Sioux Falls, SD) — A Renner man is behind bars accused of raping two children. The man identified as 44-year-old Edgar Messenger is facing two counts of rape and one count of sexual contact with a child under the age of 16. Two teenage girls have stepped forward in a push for justice and closure that led to the man’s arrest. According to the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office, one of the victims was nine years old at the time of the crime. The case began back in August when she reported to authorities there had been inappropriate contact between her and Messenger around five years ago. As she was talking to investigators, it was revealed that there was a second victim 13 years ago who was also assaulted when they were also around nine years old. Messenger was friends with the victims’ parents at the time of the incidents. While an arrest has been made, authorities don’t know if there are more victims and urge others to come forward.
