(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota is among the deadliest states for Thanksgiving driving. That’s according to a recent report from the Barber Law Firm, which looked at data on fatal crashes during the Thanksgiving period from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. South Dakota ranks as the sixth deadliest state with 23-point-68 fatal crashes per one-million residents. That’s over 60-percent higher than the national average. The Thanksgiving period starts 6 p.m. on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and ends at 6 a.m. on the following Monday.
