Retail Theft Up 16% In Rapid City this Year

(Rapid City, SD) — Rapid City Police says retail theft is up 16 percent in the city this year. Authorities are stepping up efforts to protect stores from falling victim to thieves during the holiday rush. The department has now put together a team of detectives to reduce retail crime and to make sure shoplifters are held accountable. Retailers can take steps as simple as moving items away from the doors, so they’re more difficult to steal. Officials also warn of people stealing packages this time of year and to call police if you fall victim or see anything unusual.
