School Bus Becoming Medical Library

(Sioux Falls, SD) — A Sioux Falls nonprofit is creating a unique way to benefit the community. Legacy Foundation members are converting a school bus into a mobile medical equipment lending library. President and co-founder Eleanor Turner says she had the “wild idea” and started turning it into a reality Sunday. That’s when her and a volunteer group gathered to rip out most of the interior of the bus to make room to deliver anything from a syringe to a hospital bed. She wants the finished project to honor the legacy of her son, Owen, who died in 2021. An anonymous donor gifted the bus while AARP and the South Dakota Community Foundation provided funding for the remodel. The goal is to have the bus ready by the spring.
