(Eagle Butte, SD) — An investigation is underway into the death of a South Dakota Native actor. The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe is mourning the loss of 27-year-old Cole Brings Plenty, known for his role in “1923,” a spinoff of the television series “Yellowstone.” His body was found at the end of last week in some woods near where the vehicle he was last seen driving was discovered. He was reported missing by his family the day after Easter in the Kansas City area where he was attending college. Cole’s father announced on social media that Cole’s long braids had been cut, which is a serious offense in Native American culture. Supporters are using the hashtag Braids-For-Cole while the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department in Kansas works to find out what happened to the promising actor.
