SD Congressman Dusty Johnson Speaks On Potential TikTok Ban

(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota Representative Dusty Johnson is sharing his thoughts on the potential TikTok ban through a bill quickly climbing up the ladder in Washington. He says America has to act in cutting the ties between TikTok and its parent company, Chinese-based ByteDance. Johnson told Dakota News Now that “We’re in the middle of a Cold War” with China that’s gone on for the past 20 years. He believes their government is using the popular TikTok app as an “espionage tool,” and it’s a way of “accessing American user data.” That bill was approved by the House Wednesday and now will be decided on in the U.S. Senate. Johnson is confident it will pass, while the bill also has the backing of President Biden.
