SD County Offices Shut Down Due To Spring Blizzard

(Pierre, SD) — Governor Kristi Noem is ordering government offices in several counties closed due to the weather. More than 30 counties are affected by the governor’s order. There are several counties that are planning on reopening today, including Butte, Clark, Custer, and others. Blizzard conditions are expected to continue to impact the majority of the state through Wednesday.

(Rapid City, SD) — State officials are advising residents to stay put during the blizzard. Anyone who must travel should make sure they have a full tank of gas, extra clothes and blankets, a flashlight, food, and any medication they may need. Snow crews have been prepping main streets and highways across the state, while other sections of road remain closed. While it hasn’t happened very often, there are cases where even snow plows have been pulled off the streets due to dangerous conditions.
