(Pierre, SD) — Cities, counties, and tribes across South Dakota can apply for state funding to help with mosquito control. Five-hundred-thousand dollars in grants is available through the South Dakota Department of Health. Its goal is to help stop the spread of West Nile Virus. The state’s first human case was back in 2001. Since then, nearly 28-hundred cases have been identified, resulting in close to 50 deaths.
