(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota cities, counties and tribes can now apply to receive state grant funding from the Department of Health to help control mosquito populations. The department made the announcement last week saying the grants are a part of an effort to prevent the spread of West Nile Virus in communities. Five-hundred-thousand dollars is the grant total amount available for the year, with individual grants ranging 500-dollars to 20-thousand dollars. Officials have until June 1st to fill out an application.
