SD GOP Opposes Top-Two Primary Ballot Measure

(Pierre, SD) — The Chairman of the South Dakota Republican Party doesn’t want to see primary elections change. A proposed ballot measure would create a top-two primary system. Advocates say it would allow more South Dakotans to weigh in on who represents them in D.C. and in Pierre. GOP Chairman John Wiik says that the Independent voters should find a political party if they want to participate in the state’s primaries. Joe Kirby with South Dakota Open Primaries is one of the main sponsors behind the push to change the primary election process and says that all voters should have an equal opportunity.
