SD Lakes And Streams Assoc. Launches Zebra Mussels Study

(Sioux Falls, SD) — South Dakota is studying the economic impact of Zebra Mussels. The state Lakes and Streams Association is spearheading the 107-thousand-dollar study. Deb Soholt, who’s on the Board of Directors, says the invasive species propagate incredibly fast and clog up filters and irrigation systems. The mussels arrived in South Dakota eight years ago. Since then, they’ve infested nearly two-dozen lakes and rivers in the state.
