(Sioux Falls, SD) — One South Dakota lawmaker is calling for change within the Department of Corrections. Representative Kevin Jensen of Canton held a media event yesterday. He was joined alongside other lawmakers, former inmates, and families having the chance to share their concerns with the DOC. Jensen said he wants to see sweeping changes, including calling out the job of current Secretary Kellie Wasko. He claims Wasko has created too much division among the public, families, and legislators. Jensen previously served on the Corrections Commission and still has close connections with DOC staff.
