(Pickens, SC) — Line crews from South Dakota are on the ground to help areas affected by Hurricane Helene. A group of 20 from five different electric co-ops made their way down to South Carolina to restore electricity near Pickens. It’s in the northwest part of the state about 30 minutes away from the North Carolina border. Crewmen volunteered after the South Dakota Rural Electric Association asked who would be willing to make the trip on Tuesday. They plan to be gone for about two weeks as more than a million people are still without power in the southeastern part of the U.S.
