(Sioux Falls, SD) — The president of the South Dakota Postal Workers Union is speaking out against the U.S. Postal Service’s latest plan. The USPS announced it would be shifting local mail processing operations to Omaha, Nebraska, as part of a cost-saving plan. But a new message this week is that some mail processing operations will remain in Sioux Falls. South Dakota Postal Workers President Todd West says he’s still skeptical, claiming this will only slow mail because much of it is still going to end up sorted in Omaha. USPS is also planning to spend 13-million dollars to upgrade its downtown Sioux Falls facility. But West says those improvements are long overdue and won’t make a significant impact on delivery times.
