(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds is speaking out about the real possibility of a government shutdown late tonight. He says negotiations are still ongoing toward a resolution to pass a new spending bill, but no specific developments after yesterday’s failure. According to Rounds, Democrats had put together a “wish list” of policy issues and financial points that Republicans couldn’t come to terms with. However, Rounds says he’s optimistic a deal will get done to avoid having a government shutdown of any consequence. He believes it wouldn’t be a huge deal if one were to happen until President-elect Donald Trump takes office in January.
