(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds is weighing in after yesterday’s conviction of former President Donald Trump. Despite receiving 34 felony counts, Rounds believes the verdict will actually help Trump’s bid for the White House this year. Rounds says there’s still a lot of explaining to do from prosecutors, claiming they have declined to prosecute for a lot of the same things in the past. The South Dakota Senator went as far as saying it’s hard not to believe this is an attempt to influence the election outcome. Senator John Thune also shared his reaction on X, formerly Twitter, writing the case was “politically motivated from the beginning.”
