SD Superintendents Association Argues Against Proposed Social Studies Standards

(Pierre, SD) — The South Dakota Superintendents Association is arguing against proposed social studies standards. The association signed an open letter yesterday opposing the proposed standards, which they say are not age-appropriate. The group is the latest to come out against the standards, joining educators, school boards, education groups, and the state’s nine tribes. Over 20 different school boards across the state have issued statements opposing the standards. The Board of Education Standards will meet Monday in Pierre to discuss whether to adopt the proposed standards or to scrap them and start the process again.
