SD Tax Holiday Takes Effect July 1st

(Pierre, SD) — South Dakotans could start to see some relief on their shopping receipts. The state’s tax holiday takes effect on Saturday, July 1st. HB 1137 lowers the state sales tax rate from four-point-five percent to four-point-two percent for the next four years. Governor Noem calls the temporary tax reduction better than nothing. She says she’ll continue to work on a permanent tax relief plan for South Dakotans.
