SD511 Winter Information

(Pierre, SD) — Counties and tribes in South Dakota now have another way to warn drivers about winter road conditions. It’s a new tool being rolled out this year for SD 511. Counties and tribes are able to designate their areas as ‘no travel advised’ or ‘roads closed’ on the information system. South Dakota Department of Transportation Director of Operations Craig Smith says they are striving to make as much information available so drivers can make well-informed decisions this winter. A majority of the counties and tribes in the state are registered to participate.
