SDGFP Opens More Nonresident Opportunities To Hunt Waterfowl

(Pierre, SD) — There are going to be more opportunities for non-South Dakota residents to hunt waterfowl this fall. The state Game, Fish and Parks Commission approved the change yesterday to open up 105 more licenses for two areas. The three-day licenses available to nonresidents will increase by 50 in the northern-tier unit, which includes Brown, Campbell, Edmunds, Faulk, McPherson and Walworth counties. Three-days are going up by 55 in the other unit that covers much of western South Dakota and many counties in the state’s southeastern quarter. The decision came with somewhat of a compromise as many South Dakota hunters protested concerns of extra competition with nonresidents on public lands.
