Second Week Of Jeremiah Peacemaker Trial

(Watertown, SD) — The trial in the death of Kendra Owen, a Watertown woman, enters its second week. Jeremiah Peacemaker is being charged with First-Degree Murder at the Codington County Courthouse. South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley is trying the case on behalf of the state and anticipates that the case will go to the jury either late Tuesday or Wednesday. Peacemaker’s request for acquittal was denied after the state rested its case on Thursday. The defense has called into question the handling of the investigation, claiming a lack of evidence and interviews, bringing to the stand their own private investigator. Jackley notes the trial has been a “good and fair process” and that they have taken extra steps to be respectful due to the gruesome nature of the crime.
