Senator Mike Rounds Addresses Concerns Over AI Fears

(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota Republican Senator Mike Rounds wants to talk about artificial intelligence. Rounds currently is the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Cybersecurity. On May 3rd, the committee held a hearing on the use of AI in cybersecurity and cyberspace. He’s met with the founder of OpenAI, Sam Altman, who launched ChatGPT, an AI chatbot that can respond to questions and create articles, social media posts, essays and more, in November. Rounds said that while AI is already being used, people have to be aware of its limitations and fact-check the information being produced by the machine they’re using.
