(Pierre, SD) — U.S. Senator Mike Rounds is speaking up about proposed legislation that will affect mental healthcare across the country. The South Dakota Republican introduced legislation late last month that would allow virtual mental health visits as an alternative to in-person visit. Rounds says the proposal would give people in rural areas the same access to mental health services through “home-based” visits as those in urban areas. Rounds says quality mental healthcare services are frequently limited in rural areas.
