(Washington, DC) — Senator Mike Rounds wants to eliminate the U.S. Department of Education. Rounds on Thursday introduced legislation he calls “Returning Education to Our States Act” in the U.S. Senate. His proposal calls for Department of Education duties to be split among other federal agencies, such as the Interior, Treasury and Labor Departments, among others. Rounds says the purpose for the legislation is to give individual states more control over their own Departments of Education.
