Senator Rounds: We’ll Have To Do Something To Address TikTok Worries

(Presho, SD) — It’s not clear what the Senate will do with a bill that passed the House that could ban TikTok. During an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds said the chamber will likely “have to do something” to address national security concerns with the social media platform. The Republican said he supports the direction of the House bill but stopped short of saying whether he would vote for it in the Senate. The bill that passed the House last week would force Chinese company ByteDance to sell its stake in TikTok to an American company. Lawmakers say the current ownership structure gives the Chinese government access to American data.
