Sioux Falls Gymnastics Lawsuit Enters Appeals Court

(Sioux Falls, SD) — The latest chapter in the Sioux Falls gymnastics lawsuit begins today. The suit filed by Sioux Falls parents is entering appeals court in St. Paul, Minnesota. Attorneys on both sides will go in front of a panel of judges. This all stems from the original lawsuit started in September of last year when the group of parents accused the Sioux Falls School District for violating Title Nine rules by canceling funding for the girl’s gymnastics program. A federal judge ruled an injunction in October for the district to continue with this year’s season and allow the lawsuit to finish going through court. The appeal comes from the Sioux Falls School District claiming there was an error in the injunction. It’s unlikely there will be a ruling today for at least a few weeks.
